Spannungsgeladene, atmosphärische Krimis gelten als ihr Markenzeichen: Die englische Bestseller-Autorin Minette Walters kann man getrost als eine legitime Nachfolgerin der legendären Agatha Christie bezeichnen. Völlig zu Recht trägt Walters in ihrer britischen Heimat auch den ehrenvollen Titel âLady of Crime“. Gleich mit dem Debüt-Roman Im Eishaus gelang ihr 1992 ein Riesenerfolg und der schriftstellerische Durchbruch. Seitdem hat Minette Walters mehr als ein Dutzend weiterer, preisgekrönter Kriminalromane veröffentlicht, von denen etliche verfilmt worden sind.
So auch ihr brillanter Erstling Im Eishaus im Jahre 1997 für den britischen Fernsehsender BBC. Dabei lieà es sich die Autorin auch nicht nehmen, selbst das Drehbuch zu schreiben: So ist es auch nicht weiter verwunderlich, dass unter der Regie des bekannten englischen Fernsehmachers Tim Fywell ein Film entstanden ist, der es mit der literarischen Vorlage mehr als aufnehmen kann.
