Murdoch Mysteries is an edge of your seat Canadian television drama series, based on the popular mystery novels by Maureen Jennings, the series stars Yannick Bisson (Soul Food) as Detective William Murdoch, an investigator in Toronto in 1895. Ein intensiver, eindringlicher Film über Verlust und Leid, der als Lehrbuch in Sachen überlebenswichtiger Trauerarbeit verstanden werden kann. Trotz des bewegenden Themas hält die sehr artifizielle Machart den Zuschauer zugleich auf eine gewisse Distanz und ermöglicht ihm so eine weitgehend emotionsfreie Auseinandersetzung mit existentiellen Sinnfragen.
